Worst film may become the most popular theatrical release of all time:

Oh, Hai! The Room:
The best example of spectacularly awful filmmaking, which sparked a major following, worldwide screenings and reenactments of that ‘Oh hi, Mark’. James Franco’s Disaster Artist is chronicling the riotous behind-the-scenes, offering a portrait of the eccentric dreamer-turned-cult legend Tommy Wiseau. James Franco goes hard in his role as the cult enigma responsible for the world’s best bad movie-making. DAZED Full Article.

TDA based on Greg Sestero’s best-selling tell-all about the making of Tommy Wiseau's cult-classic disasterpiece The Room (“The Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made”).

From the actor who somehow lived through it all.

In 2003, The Room, an independent film starring and written, produced, and directed by a mysteriously wealthy social misfit named Tommy Wiseau—made its disastrous debut in Los Angeles. The $6 million film earned a grand total of $1,800 at the box office and closed after two weeks. Ten years later, it’s an international cult phenomenon, whose legions of fans attend screenings featuring costumes, audience rituals, merchandising, and thousands of plastic spoons. The Disaster Artist is the hilarious, behind-the-scenes story of a deliciously awful cinematic phenomenon as well as the story of an odd and inspiring Hollywood friendship. Greg Sestero, Tommy’s costar, recounts the film’s bizarre journey to infamy, explaining how the movie’s many nonsensical scenes and bits of dialogue came to be and unraveling the mystery of Tommy Wiseau himself.

The Child in Time is an astonishing novel by one of the finest writers —

Ian McEwan, the winner of the Whitbread Prize

The Child in Time is an award-winning novel, the adaptation set to air on MASTERPIECE/ PBS in 2018. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Kelly Macdonald. The Child in Time tells the story of the grieving parents of a child who goes missing.
Stephen Lewis, a successful writer of children's books, is confronted with the unthinkable:
his only child, three-year-old Kate, is snatched from him in a supermarket.

In one horrifying moment that replays itself over the years that follow,
Stephen realizes his daughter is gone. With extraordinary tenderness and insight,
Booker Prize-winning author Ian McEwan takes us into the dark territory of a marriage devastated by the loss of a child. Kate's absence sets Stephen and his wife, Julie, on diverging paths as they each struggle with a grief that only seems to intensify with the passage of time.
Eloquent and passionate, the novel concludes in a triumphant scene of love and hope that gives full rein to the author's remarkable gifts.

“For children, childhood is timeless. It is always the present. Everything is in the present tense. Of course, they have memories. Today is what they feel, and when they say ‘When I grow up,’ there is always an edge of disbelief—how could they ever be other than what they are?  McEwan's works have earned him worldwide critical acclaim.

Murder on the Orient Express, by Agatha Christie

The story has been adapted any number of times for film and television, but Agatha Christie’s (maybe) most famous novel (with the second most famous twist) always makes for cracking good viewing. Kenneth Branagh directs this version and stars as persnickety Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot, leading an appropriately all-star cast of suspects. Sounds like it’ll be a bloody good way to kick off the holiday season. Courtesy of 20th Century FOX: WEBSITE
What starts out as a lavish train ride through Europe quickly unfolds into one of the most stylish, suspenseful and thrilling mysteries ever told. The Mountain Between Us by Charles Martin

Has become a major motion picture,
from the author of Where the River Ends, comes this page-turning story of love and survival.

On a stormy winter night, two strangers wait for a flight at the Salt Lake City airport.  Ashley Knox is an attractive, successful writer, who is flying East for her much-anticipated wedding.  Dr. Ben Payne has just wrapped up a medical conference and is also eager to get back East for a slate of surgeries he has scheduled for the following day.

When the last outgoing flight is canceled due to a broken de-icer and a forthcoming storm, Ben finds a charter plane that can take him around the storm and drop him in Denver to catch a connection.   And when the pilot says the single-engine prop plane can fit one more, if barely, Ben offers the seat to Ashley knowing that she needs to get back just as urgently.   And then the unthinkable happens.  The pilot has a heart attack mid-flight and the plane crashes into the High Uintas Wilderness— one of the largest stretches of harsh and remote land in the United States.  Starring:  Kate Winslet and Idris Elba As the days on the mountains become weeks,
their survival becomes increasingly perilous.
How will they make it out of the wilderness and if they do,
how will this experience change them forever?
